We spark financial and legal power among widows

When widows are financially and legally powerful they are able to free themselves from stigma and discrimination, challenge the norms governing widowhood and interrupt the poverty in which they find themselves. As of July 2025, we’ve supported over 35,609 widows, supporting 89,332 children, to achieve sustainable livelihoods.

At the age of 26, Christine was left to raise her daughter alone after her husband abandoned her. With support from the WISALA program, she started a grocery business, gained legal knowledge, and built a supportive community. Today, her business is thriving, and she is determined to secure a bright future for her daughter.
