When widows are financially and legally powerful they are able to free themselves from stigma and discrimination, challenge the norms governing widowhood and interrupt the poverty in which they find themselves. As of July 2025, we’ve supported over 35,609 widows, supporting 89,332 children, to achieve sustainable livelihoods.
We work with local and global institutions, including the United Nations, to reform policies, legislation and traditions that uphold violence against widows.

The Global Fund for Widows hosted an invitation-only fundraising dinner on the sidelines of UNGA, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This intimate evening featured H.E. Monica Geingos, 3rd First Lady of Namibia, and brought together leaders and advocates to advance the rights and empowerment of widows worldwide.
