DAF Day 2026: Turn Your Donor-Advised Fund Into Lasting Impact for Widows Worldwide

By Fatima Martin Sanchez

Your donor-advised fund can help a widow build a more secure and independent future.

What Is DAF Day?

DAF Day is a national giving day dedicated to donor-advised funds (DAFs), one of the fastest-growing forms of charitable giving in the United States. Held each year on the second Thursday of October, DAF Day brings together donors, nonprofits, and DAF providers around a shared goal: encouraging donors to move charitable dollars from donor-advised fund accounts to the organizations and causes making a difference around the world.

Think of a donor-advised fund as an investment account for your philanthropy. You contribute to your DAF, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to the charities and organizations you care about on your own timeline.

October 8, 2026 marks the third annual DAF Day.

Why Give to the Global Fund for Widows?

Around the world, widows face significant economic and social challenges, including loss of income, property, financial security, and economic opportunity.

At the Global Fund for Widows, we see widows as powerful actors of change.

Through our award-winning Widows’ Savings and Loan Association (WISALA) model, groups of 25 widows become co-owners of community-based micro-banks. With access to capital, business training, and legal knowledge, widows launch and grow businesses, build financial stability, protect their rights, and take on greater leadership within their families and communities.

Your DAF gift will help put these tools directly into a widow’s hands, enabling her to build a livelihood, strengthen her financial security, and invest in a better future for her family.

Put Your DAF to Work

If you already have charitable funds in a DAF, DAF Day is an opportunity to put them into action.

Giving is simple:

  1. Log in to your DAF account.
  2. Search for and select the Global Fund for Widows ( EIN / Tax ID: 30-0506927)
  3. Recommend your grant amount and submit.

Make Your DAF Count on October 8

A gift to the Global Fund for Widows can help turn charitable dollars into meaningful economic opportunity for widows around the world.

Because when a widow achieves financial security, the impact reaches beyond one woman — strengthening her family, her community, and future generations.

This DAF Day, turn generosity into opportunity.
